Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham was delight after being given the opportunity to wear the captain’s collar for the ufabet club during their 3-2 defeat to Cologne in the Bundesliga. Germany on Saturday
The England midfielder gave Julian Brandt an assist to put the team ahead. but ultimately ended in defeat. This time as captain, the midfielder is the youngest Bundesliga player to wear the armband at just 19 years old.
Bellingham told Bundesliga.com: “It’s like a dream come true. When I signed a contract with the club. It’s something I never thought it would be true.”
“Until I met the players in the team and realized they gave me the confidence that one day. I would be captain. It’s something other people are always talking about and I always turn down.”
“I am extremely grateful to have been give the opportunity today. But in the end it was a disappointment as well because we lost the game.”
Bellingham also shone for England in their recent UEFA Nations League clashes with Italy and Germany, supplying an assist in the latter fixture. “I like Jude, I think he’s an amazing player,” said Bellingham’s England teammate Jordan Henderson. “He’s a fantastic professional and his mentality is really key for his development.
“There will be a lot of pressure on him at a young age, but of course he’s a top, top player, and I’m sure he’ll have a big part to play [at the World Cup] in Qatar.”
